Denny Stolz Era Michigan State Football Jerseys

Denny Stolz removed Duffy Daugherty’s black trimmed Spartan helmet logo and replaced it with the oversized Spartan helmet logo drawn by team member Mike Hurd (an art major). He also added stripes around the arms for the away jerseys.

Denny Stolz’s final record at Michigan State was 19 - 13 - 1.

Helmet

• Green helmet
• One-inch white center stripe
• Oversized Spartan helmet logo with a black border that was drawn by team member Mike Hurd (also an art major)
• Gray facemask
• Player numerals on back

Away Jersey

• "MICHIGAN STATE" appears above the player numerals – font reminiscent of the 1965 - 1966 national championship teams
• Solid color player numerals on front
• Solid color TV numbers on the side of shoulders
• Solid color player numerals on back
• Thick stripe around arms

Home Jersey

• Based on very limited photographs, I can only speculate that the 1973 home jerseys were identical to the 1974 - 1975 home jerseys

Pants

• White pants
• Single thick green stripe down the leg
• Same pants used for home and away games
