  • Tapering white center stripe – wide in the front, narrow in the rear of the helmet – matches the plume of the Michigan State Helmet Logo when viewed from above
  • Michigan State Helmet Logo
  • White facemask
  • MSU Shield Logo over the nose bumper
  • United States flag sticker on back, placed to the left of the center stripe
  • Block S Logo helmet stickers on back, with players filling up the right side of the center stripe before they add them to the left side
  • “MICHIGAN STATE” appears on the back name strip in the Spartan Font

2010 Mid-Season Changes

Beginning with the Michigan State vs. Florida Atlantic game on September 11, 2010 (30 – 17 Win), and for all the remaining games of the season, Michigan State wore a No. 44 decal on the back of the helmets as a tribute to Josh Rouse, who sustained a season-ending neck injury during the previous game against Western Michigan.

For the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame game on September 18, 2010 (34 – 31 OT Win), Michigan State wore their home alternate uniforms.

For the Michigan State vs. Northern Colorado game on September 25, 2010 (45 – 7 Win), Michigan State wore a letter “D” decal on the back of their helmets as a tribute to Mark Dantonio, who suffered a heart attack just hours after the thrilling overtime victory over Notre Dame on September 18, 2010 (Coach Dantonio was not present at the Northern Colorado game because he was home resting). For the Wisconsin game on October 2, 2010 the letter “D” decals were removed from the helmets, however Coach Dantonio had been returned to the hospital due to a blood clot discovered in his leg (Coach Dantonio watched the Wisconsin game from his hospital bed).

Beginning with the Michigan State vs. Michigan game on October 9, 2010 (34 – 17 Win), and for the three remaining games in October, Michigan State wore a pink ribbon on the back of the helmets for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For the Michigan State vs. Illinois game on October 16, 2010 (26 – 6 Win), Michigan State wore their home alternate uniforms.

For the Michigan State vs. Alabama game on January 1, 2011 (49 – 7 Loss), Michigan State wore their home alternate uniforms, with a Capital One Bowl decal on the back of the helmets and a Capital One Bowl patch on the right shoulder. Some members of the team wore Nike Vapor Jet Premium LE Gloves, normally worn by teams with Nike Pro Combat Uniforms.



2011 Season Changes

Helmet

  • The size of the United States flag sticker was reduced and moved to the right side of the center stripe


2011 Mid-Season Changes

For the first three games of the season ending with the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame game on September 17, 2011 (13 – 31 Loss), Michigan State wore a No. 95 decal on the back of the helmets in honor of the late Bubba Smith, who died on August 3, 2011. The decal was removed after playing Notre Dame in recognition of Smith’s last collegiate game against Notre Dame in the “Game of the Century” ending in a 10 – 10 tie.

For the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame game on September 17, 2011 (13 – 31 Loss), Michigan State’s defensive tackle Jerel Worthy wore the No. 95 jersey honoring the late Bubba Smith who played his last collegiate game against Notre Dame in the “Game of the Century” ending in a 10 – 10 tie.

For the Michigan State vs. Michigan game on October 15, 2011 (28 – 14 Win), Michigan State wore Nike Pro Combat Uniforms.

For the Michigan State vs. Wisconsin game on October 22, 2011 (37 – 31 Win), Michigan State wore their home alternate uniforms.

For the Michigan State vs. Iowa game on November 12, 2011 (37 – 21 Win), Michigan State wore a star decal on the back of the helmets in honor of Veterans Day, which was the day prior.

For the Michigan State vs. Georgia game on January 1, 2012 (33 – 30 Win), Michigan State wore a Outback Bowl patch on the right shoulder.

2012 Season Changes

Jersey

  • B1G logo patch added to the right shoulder of the jerseys. The “B” letter of the logo is in white, instead of the jersey color, which is how the majority of the B1G teams chose to wear the patch


2012 Mid-Season Changes

For the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame game on September 15, 2012 (20 – 3 Loss), Michigan State wore a 9-11 “Never Forget” decal on the back of the helmets.

For the Michigan State vs. Michigan game on October 20, 2012 (12 – 10 Loss), Michigan State wore chrome helmets.

For the Michigan State vs. Minnesota game on November 24, 2012 (26 – 10 Win), Michigan State wore Camo Arm Socks.

For the Michigan State vs. TCU game on December 29, 2012 (17 – 16 Win), Michigan State wore a Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl patch on the right shoulder

For the annual Green & White spring game on April 20, 2013, both teams wore the Boston B decal on the back of the helmets in memory of the Boston Marathon victims. The White team wore the chrome helmets with their white (away) jerseys.

2013 Season Changes

Jersey

  • The B1G logo patch was corrected to having the “B” letter of the logo the same color as the jersey color, which is how the majority of the B1G teams chose to wear the patch


2013 Mid-Season Changes

Beginning with the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame game on September 21, 2013 and for the remainder of the season, Michigan State added Spear helmet stickers to the left side of the helmet. The new Spear helmet stickers represented individual accomplishments, while the Block S Logo helmet stickers represented team accomplishments.

For the Michigan State vs. Michigan game on November 2, 2013 (29 – 6 Win), Michigan State wore green pants.

For the Michigan State vs. Nebraska game on November 16, 2013 (41 – 28 Win), Michigan State wore chrome helmets.

For the Michigan State vs. Northwestern game on November 23, 2013 (30 – 6 Win), Michigan State wore green pants with white away jerseys, similair to the John L Smith style.

For the Michigan State vs. Ohio State (B1G Championship Game) on December 7, 2013 (34 – 24 Win), Michigan State wore green pants.

For the Michigan State vs. Stanford game on January 1, 2014 (24 – 20 Win), Michigan State wore a BCS decal on the back of the helmets and a Rose Bowl Patch patch on the left shoulder, along with green pants.

For the annual Green & White spring game on April 26, 2016, both teams wore B1G Championship patches on their left shoulder, with a Michigan State Helmet Logo with roses decal on the back of the helmets. The Green team wore the “home alternate” jerseys with green pants, and the White team wore the away jerseys.

  • The green shoulder yokes were removed on the away jerseys


2014 Mid-Season Changes

For the Michigan State vs. Nebraska game on October 4, 2014 (27 – 22 Win), Michigan State wore green pants.

For the Michigan State vs. Purdue game on October 11, 2014 (45 – 31 Win), Michigan State wore their home uniforms at Purdue, so Purdue could wear their all white white uniforms with neon yellow logos, shoe laces, socks & gloves to support cancer research & survivors.

For the Michigan State vs. Purdue game on October 25, 2014 (35 – 11 Win), Michigan State wore green pants.

For the Michigan State vs. Ohio State game on November 8, 2014 (49 – 37 Loss), Michigan State wore green pants.

For the Michigan State vs. Baylor game on January 1, 2015 (42 – 41 Win), Michigan State wore a Cotton Bowl decal on the back of the helmets and a Cotton Bowl patch on the left shoulder.
