Biggie Munn brought his Spartans out in the 1947 season opener at Michigan with the team wearing the white winged helmet.

Biggie Munn’s coaching debut resulted in a 55 – 0 loss to interstate arch rival University of Michigan. Being quite superstitious, Biggie Munn immediately retired the team’s new white winged helmet.
