The jerseys featured the State Script Logo and were the first basketball jerseys made by Nike for Michigan State.

  • State Script Logo appears above the player numerals
  • Player numerals on the front and back
  • Reflective Michigan State Helmet Logo at the point of the V-neck
  • Half-inch stripe around neck and arms
  • One-and-a-half inch stripe running down both sides of the jersey
  • Thin gray stripe running parallel to the one-and-a-half inch stripe
  • Player last names on the back above the player numerals


Shorts

  • Block S Logo on the bottom left leg
  • Nike logo on the upper left leg
  • One-and-a-half inch stripe continues down both sides of the shorts
  • Thin gray stripe running parallel to the one-and-a-half inch
  • Both stripes make two 45 degree angles at the bottom of the shorts and curve around the back of the leg

2001 - 2002 Mid-Season Changes

  • A large United States flag patch was added to the left shoulder in memory of the events of September 11, 2001


  • For the Michigan State vs. Michigan game on January 30, 2002 (71 – 44 Win), Michigan State wore 1979 National Championship throwback jerseys
  • For the Michigan State vs. Illinois game on February 12, 2002 (61 – 63 Loss), Michigan State wore 1979 National Championship throwback jerseys


2002 - 2003 Season Changes

The size of the United States flag patch was reduced

2002 - 2003 Mid-Season Changes

  • For the Michigan State vs. Pennsylvania game on November 29, 2003 (77 – 52 Win), Michigan State wore 1979 National Championship throwback jerseys
  • For the Michigan State vs. DePaul game on November 30, 2003 (89 – 81 Win), Michigan State wore 1979 National Championship throwback jerseys


  • For the Michigan State vs. Duke game on December 2, 2003 (72 – 50 Loss), Michigan State debuted silver alternate jerseys
  • For the Michigan State vs. Indiana game on January 31, 2004 (84 – 72 Win), Michigan State wore 1979 National Championship throwback jerseys for ESPN’s “Turn Back The Clock” game celebrating ESPN’s 25th year of televising college basketball. Dick Vitale wore a 1979-style blazer and horn-rimmed glasses and during the broadcast, ESPN replays and graphics reflected the 1979 look and the music during the telecast included top songs from 1979


2002 - 2003 Mid-Season Changes

  • 150 Year patch commemorating the anniversary of Michigan State’s foundation in 1855 was added to the right shoulder


  • For the Michigan State vs. Nicholls St. game on November 27, 2004 (102 – 52 Win), Michigan State wore silver alternate jerseys
  • For the Michigan State vs. Stanford game on December 11, 2004 (78 – 53 Win), Michigan State wore silver alternate jerseys for the CITGO Spartan Clash


  • For the Michigan State vs. North Carolina game on April 2, 2005 (87 – 71 Loss), Michigan State wore a Final Four patch on the left shoulder


2005 - 2006 Mid-Season Changes

For the Michigan State vs. Georgia Tech game on November 30, 2005 (88 – 86 Win), the jersey top was changed to the Nike Pro Revolution Top – all Nike sponsored Big Ten and ACC teams wore the same style jerseys with their respective colors and logo for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge
